Did you ever wonder why we don't get the frequency of bombers on our busses that they see in the Middle East? I have a theory.
First of all, I'm not talking about those brown bombs that include the 4 basic bomb food groups; broccoli, boiled eggs, beer, and beans. (Who ever said that the illiterate couldn't alliterate?) Personally, I think you are an idiot to release anything like that in an environment where you can't blame a dog, and the next guy that does that next to me in a confined space like a bus will definitely be labeled "suicide bomber" in the headlines because I'll toss him out the window, just so everyone will know that it wasn't me. This includes airline passengers, so watch your fiber intake before you take a flight with me, or bring a parachute.
I'm actually talking about those bombs that involve sudden impact and lots of smoke and heat and scattered body parts and crying and stuff like that.
Ironically, I think that our inability to provide a fair and universal public infrastructure may have protected us from this and it wasn't even part of the plan. Other than the USPS policy of Rural Free Delivery, we tend to ignore our rural fringe. We don't provide affordable mass transit to rural areas because they are "too poor to have anywhere to go anyway". We have shown this sort of accidental brilliance throughout our history. This policy actually has a twofold benefit:
